last elction post.

as much as i would rathe rMcCain be our next president for many obvious reasons, i think obama will win both the popular vote and electoral vote. I think will win the popular vote maybe 66% not sure the actuall number. and with electoraly votes around 290? The winner of the Senate race i believe is going to be Mark Warner just because nobody really even knows who jim gilmore is according to my surveys when i volunteer.(sadly). warner has dome some excelt campaigning and pretty much has this one in the bag. i think that virginias repunblicans will stay strong and vote wolf and not the democrt feder. lets hope. Tom davis is going to get out of this election with the victory for the 11th district. hes a moderate republican and in Va hes gunna get the votes.

Volunteering #3

It seems the closer that we get to the election the more last minuter volunteerers there are. i went today and the place was packed. we had beaten the calling record again. it was the 2dt time we had that i had been there. it was pretty cool. but other than that i guess its really pretty boring. calling people alot is not the best. most people dont anwer or they do and they are pretty pissed that your calling them. Oh well. they always hand me free stuff liek bumper sticker or sign for my yard, its cool.

Volunteering # 2

so i went last night and i did calls again. I alwasy sget some poepl who are so sweet and then there is the occasion jerk who like hangs up or yells at you. I think its pretty boring so far. I understand that we are in northern va and everything but liek when i call people it is a completely random list of people and like 90% of the poeple that answer the quesrtions say that they are voting republican. If i were to take my own poll i would sayd northern va is deff going republican. i would be interestef to see how the obama volunteers are doing as fara s democratic support.

current event

my current event was baout how usually white church goers are supporting McCian. and alot of the white non church goers are suppporting obama. This doesnt suprise me at all. Alot of the white people who sometimes got o church also support obama. Since september McCains church Supports have gone down.
As the polls are tighing up and the election is coming to a close i thihnk that alot of the people who go to church even sometimes are going to vote McCain.

Volunteering blogg#1!!

soo this weekend me and hailey went to volunteer. it as my second time and her first. its right next to santinis in sterling. It is just this huge room in thie office building with so many posters and signs and all sorts of stuff. They used to use cell phones to make there calls but now they are using like this advanced phone that actually do the poll in the phone screen. its pretty cool. they jsut give you this list of phone numbers and you call them. Im pretty sure that it was jsut a random list of numbers but im not sure. Other than just making a ton of calls the few hours i was there was pretty chill. There was a bunch of younger poeple and maybe a few older people but not many. You dont have to do anything to go. just show up and say u wann help and they will put you to work. I took pictuers and ill take some more. They will be up soon!

current event 5

my cureent even was mainly about how unhappy people are baou tthe economy. It talked about one third of the people are worried about their retirenment an dhow they are going ot pay for their childresn college education. 53% of the people feel like they are going to have to work longer than they planned and retire at a older age. 66% of the poeple are worried about being able to pay thie medical bills. the amount of people that feel that the country is moving in the right direction has plunged in just a few weeks. from 28% in septemember to just 15% in october.
seven in 10 people are anxious that thier stocks and retirenment are increasingly losing value.

election week 5

Florida-its hard to imagine McCain's victory without Florida. Obama said that he thinks he can win the election without the electoral college 27 Florida vote. It Will definitely work to his advantage to have a democratic surge in voting but he needs to work on some of the states main constituencies. My prediction is that they will go republican. they have for many years and there is alot of older people there.

Virginia- Va hasvoted democratic once since 1948 but northern virginia has been leaning democratic this election and they are the main power house of VA. i think that they are going to go republican becuase of the amount of people that have have such high incomes and dont want to get all those high taxes from obama

Iraq's oil minitster is laying out the 1st set of rules and regulations that he is going to set down for other mulinations in need of their foriegn oil. while Iraq's oil industry badly needs foreign investment, Iraqi officials don't want to be viewed by Western oil interests.Officials in Iraq say the meeting's purpose was to help the world's energy giants prepare their bids for 20-year service contracts at Iraq's biggest oil and gas producing fields. Some industry representatives outside the conference expressed frustration over the lack of details begin given. The oil minister gave the firms six-month deadline to submit their bids. they plan to announce winners in June of 2009.
looking at gallup.com it says that Obama is at 49% while McCain is at 43% as of now,but in mid september they were even

The Virginia Senate Race looks to be leaning Democratic. As of Thursday October 9th, Warner 58% and Gilmore31%, putting Warner up 27 points.

I think that polling does have alot of impact on modern voting but at the same time i think that could be somewhat inacruate and cause misleading leads for the candates. Like Obama is doin well in the polls and he is starting to get cocky. The election isnt over till everyone votes. I think that for the people they poll it has good information reguarding there opinions but there is still many people that they do not poll.

current even # 3

I was reading an atricle about how now the campiagn is dawing closer and claser the danidates are using more distastful ways to bash one another.
people are saying that McCain is a ticking timebomb with so much anger and Palin has been called many versions on the C-word. An Obama supporter called out saying that McCain is a murderer and then someone yelled back that he had fought for her right to say that. I just think that people are not paying attention to waht they should be by what the canidates are saying and less of the insults they are throwing around.

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

Jim gilmore is teh republican canidate for the Va senate seat. He was the attorney general of va from 1994 to 1998.Gilmore campaigned for the 2008 republican presidential nomination until July 2007, when he became the first major Republican candidate to leave the race.

Mark warner is the democratic canidate fot the Va senate seat.Warner is the immediate former governor of Virginia.Warner is young, and made about $200 million as a cell phone entrepreneur. He is finacing his campaign himself.

I think that the biggest componet in this race is enregy conservation. Gilmore supports aff shore drilling in alaska while warner wants to put more pressure on other countries to start to drill more that they already are.

i agree with drilling in alaska. the places they want to drilla re a wasteland with notheing there

Current Event #2

For my Current event for class i wrote about the vets supporting McCain. But i think I wanna talk about all the Issues people are having with Palin. Everyone is saying how bad or "stupid" she is. Yeah i get that her interview with katie couric was alittle out there. but really i think that the questions that all these people are asking Palin and McCain are just like who would know that compared to the questions being asked to obama and biden. They are being asked if they like bowl for crying out loud. how fair is that!

election blog post week two

To me in this election I think that immigration is my major concern. I completely side with the republicans on this for the simple fact that the aliens here now need to leave and give a chance to the people who are trying to do it right. I think that legalizing them all would be a huge mistake. They came here the wrong way, they don’t pay taxes. Although i can see what people mean by them doing the jobs most people won’t do, yeah but they should be paying taxes and being proactive participants in our community.

I think that the new seatbelt laws are so important. I do think that you should be getting tickets if you’re not wearing it. It is common knowledge that it saves lives so why wouldn't people wear it. It can kill the person in the car that is wearing it because one person chose not to. And to me that is just not right. We should be preventing as many accidents as we can, even though not wearing your seatbelt is not really an accident its a very unintelligent mistake.

WE ALL KNOW OBAMA IS A BETTER SPEAKER!! Is anyone actually listening to what he is saying or just the "way" he is saying. It is driving my insane. I found a quote i would LOVEE to share with you guys....
"Optimism is a good characteristic, but if carried to an excess, it becomes foolishness. We are prone to speak of the resources of this country as inexhaustible; this is not so."Seventh Annual Message to Congress, December 3, 1907(Theodore Roosevelt)http://www.theodoreroosevelt.org/life/quotes.htm

Now To McCain. You're cool and all but I really don’t think you need to be bailing on any debates. it’s just not a good idea. Now that that’s said. The debates to me were dumb. it seems like all they did was bash each other the whole night and really didn’t tell us anything. Oh well. I really don’t think that wither have been successful in the debates.

Electronic media is taking a huge role in this election. I am getting texts about McCain sent right to my cell phone! it is really helping people get involved without having to sit down at the exact time things are going down. I have "YouTube" a lot of speeches and the conventions. It is making things more accessible and easier and the US loves things to be easy

Current Event #1

I personally think that McCain made a huge bad mistake by bailing out of the debate for friday. He needs to show that he is able to do more than knoe thing. Although i am McCain supporter that one extra vote from him in teh senate for the bail out really wont make difference and his time is better spent trying to win over the voters, being that today he is down in the polls.

I also think the way he is handleing it is irresponsible. When asked about the poll number and why he was doing it he said that he was "bailing out of that question". REAlly? that was a BAD answer! And he is supposed to be putting out a "a comprehensive debate bailout package," which means he's going ot be bailing out of more that than just this weeks debate.

How are we going ot win the votes of people by bailing out? not too smart mr john mccain

election blog post week one

I consider myself a repunblican. Both my parents are and I guess it has kind of been passed down. I agree with most of the things that John McCain says and his polital views. Of course im not on board with eveything he thinks but to me he is most definitely the better caniditate of the two.

Neither of the canidates are for gay marriages but both also support civil unions. I guess i do not mid the civil union but i am against gay marriage. Not just because it go against my religion but mostly. This i supose is one thing that Obama is spot on with.

Obama wants to "responcibly end the war" and i think that is just saying the same thing that McCain wants but in different words. In my opinion we need to stay there till the job is finished and thats that McCain wants. He thinks that all these lives will be lost for nothing if we just pull out all at once and just ubrutly end the war. That doesnt sound to responcible to me.
